Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SB-705498 + fluticasone propionate is an investigational combination of a selective TRPV1 antagonist (SB-705498) and a synthetic corticosteroid (fluticasone propionate) formulated for intranasal use, primarily evaluated for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. SB-705498 blocks the transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) ion channel, which is implicated in neurogenic inflammation and pain, while fluticasone propionate acts as a potent glucocorticoid receptor agonist, reducing inflammation. Randomized studies have shown that this combination did not provide additional efficacy over fluticasone propionate alone in allergic rhinitis, despite appropriate target engagement by SB-705498[1][3].
