Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SB27 + pemetrexed + carboplatin is a combination therapy that includes SB27 (identity and mechanism not established from available sources), pemetrexed, and carboplatin. Pemetrexed is a multitargeted antifolate that inhibits several enzymes involved in folate metabolism and DNA synthesis, primarily thymidylate synthase, dihydrofolate reductase, and glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that works by forming DNA crosslinks, thereby triggering apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. When used together, pemetrexed and carboplatin are standard chemotherapy agents for non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer and mesothelioma, typically administered intravenously. The addition of SB27, which may be a novel agent under preclinical or early clinical investigation, cannot be characterized precisely without more information.
