Overview

SC0062 + dapagliflozin is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetic nephropathy, specifically in patients with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). The regimen consists of **SC0062**, a selective endothelin A (ETA) receptor antagonist, and **dapagliflozin**, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. The combination is designed to provide synergistic nephroprotection by targeting multiple pathways of renal damage. SGLT2 inhibitors are known to reduce intraglomerular pressure and albuminuria, while also potentially mitigating the fluid retention side effects commonly associated with endothelin receptor antagonists (ERAs). This dual approach aims to augment the reduction of albuminuria and slow the progression of kidney disease more effectively than either agent alone. The combination is currently being evaluated in the Phase 2 ASPIRE-1 trial led by the University Medical Center Groningen.
