Drug intelligence / Profile preview
SCB-2019 + CpG 1018 + alum is a protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine candidate that combines three components: - **SCB-2019**: A recombinant SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein trimer fusion protein preserved in the native trimeric prefusion conformation using Trimer-Tag technology - **CpG 1018**: A toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist adjuvant developed by Dynavax - **Alum**: Aluminum hydroxide adjuvant Each dose contains 30 μg of SCB-2019 antigen, 1.5 mg of CpG 1018, and 0.75 mg of aluminum hydroxide, administered as a 0.5 mL intramuscular injection. The vaccine is given as a two-dose regimen with doses administered 21 days apart. Phase 2/3 clinical trials involving over 30,000 participants across five countries demonstrated 100% efficacy against severe COVID-19 and hospitalization. The vaccine can be stored under standard refrigeration conditions (2-8°C).
