Birmex (Laboratorios de Biológicos y Reactivos de México) produces a polyvalent anti-scorpion venom serum. It is an equine-derived antivenom consisting of F(ab')2 antibody fragments. It is designed to neutralize the toxins of scorpions, specifically those of the genus *Centruroides*, which are prevalent in Mexico. The mechanism involves the binding and neutralization of venom components (neurotoxins) in the bloodstream, preventing them from reaching their targets (ion channels). It is used for the treatment of scorpion envenomation, particularly in pediatric populations where the risk of severe systemic toxicity is higher.
