secukinumab + ustekinumab

Secukinumab + ustekinumab is a combination of two monoclonal antibody biologic drugs, each with distinct mechanisms targeting different pro-inflammatory cytokines involved in immune-mediated diseases. Secukinumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that selectively binds to and neutralizes interleukin-17A (IL-17A), thereby inhibiting its interaction with the IL-17 receptor and reducing inflammation. Ustekinumab is a fully human IgG1κ monoclonal antibody that targets the p40 subunit shared by interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-23 (IL-23), preventing their binding to cell surface receptors and subsequent activation of Th1 and Th17 inflammatory pathways. Both agents are approved individually for conditions such as moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. The combination has been explored off-label or in case reports for patients with refractory or severe forms of these diseases who have failed multiple advanced therapies[9][7]. There is no unique brand name or fixed-dose product for this combination; it refers to concurrent use of both drugs.
