Selegiline + shudipingchan is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Selegiline works by inhibiting the breakdown of dopamine in the brain, thereby increasing dopaminergic activity. Shudipingchan is typically composed of herbs such as Rehmannia glutinosa (Shu Di Huang) and other components intended to nourish the 'kidney and liver yin' and extinguish 'wind' to alleviate tremors, according to TCM principles. The combination aims to provide synergistic effects, potentially enhancing motor function and reducing the side effects or dosage requirements of standard dopaminergic therapies like levodopa.
