Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Selenium + curcumin refers to a combination of elemental selenium and the polyphenolic compound curcumin, typically formulated for synergistic antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Mechanistically, this combination acts by enhancing cellular antioxidant capacity, modulating oxidative stress, and regulating signaling pathways such as IGF-1/PI3K/AKT/mTOR. Preclinical studies indicate that selenium and curcumin together provide greater antioxidant effects than either agent alone, protect against cellular apoptosis, reduce markers of oxidative injury, and show potential benefits in models of cancer, liver, and cardiac injury. Formulations can include direct mixtures or nanoparticle-based delivery systems, but there does not appear to be a unique brand or proprietary formulation exclusively for selenium + curcumin as of now[2][4][1].
