Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Semaglutide + dapagliflozin is a combination therapy of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist that enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, and slows gastric emptying, leading to improved glycemic control and weight loss. Dapagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption in the proximal tubule, promoting urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood sugar levels. The combination has demonstrated superior efficacy in improving glycemic control and metabolic parameters compared to monotherapy with either agent[1][2]. Both drugs are also associated with cardiovascular and renal benefits.
