Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Semax + Selank is a combination of two synthetic heptapeptides developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is an analog of the adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) fragment ACTH(4-7) with a Pro-Gly-Pro C-terminal tail added for enzymatic stability. It acts primarily as a cognitive enhancer and neuroprotectant by upregulating brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) via the CREB pathway, and modulating dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic analog of the endogenous immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, also stabilized with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. It acts primarily as an anxiolytic and immunomodulator, modulating GABAergic neurotransmission, inhibiting enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and regulating serotonin metabolism. The combination is popular in the nootropic and wellness communities as a 'stack' or co-formulated nasal spray to simultaneously enhance focus, memory, and mental clarity (via Semax) while promoting calm, stress resilience, and emotional stability (via Selank) without causing sedation or dependence.
