SER-214 (formerly SRx-501) is a long-acting, injectable polymer-drug conjugate developed by Serina Therapeutics for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. The drug utilizes Serina's proprietary polyoxazoline (POZ) polymer platform to deliver ropinirole, a non-ergoline dopamine agonist, via a once-weekly subcutaneous injection. By providing continuous dopaminergic stimulation (CDS), SER-214 aims to maintain steady-state plasma levels of ropinirole, thereby reducing the "off" time and dyskinesia associated with the pulsatile stimulation of oral dopaminergic therapies. The POZ platform is designed to be biocompatible and allows for high drug loading with precise control over release kinetics. SER-214 has completed initial Phase 1 clinical testing, demonstrating safety and a pharmacokinetic profile supportive of weekly dosing.
