Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Seraprevir + sofosbuvir** is an oral, ribavirin-free combination regimen used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Seraprevir is a hepatitis C virus NS3/4A protease inhibitor which blocks viral replication by inhibiting the proteolytic processing of viral polyproteins. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog inhibitor of the HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which results in chain termination during viral RNA replication. This combination targets two distinct steps of the viral lifecycle, providing potent antiviral activity with high rates of sustained virological response. The combination is particularly studied and used in Chinese patient populations without cirrhosis, showing high effectiveness (SVR12 rates up to 98%) and a favorable safety profile[1][5].
