Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sericin + turmeric is a topical combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of psoriasis. [9] It combines sericin, a protein derived from silk, with turmeric, a plant extract. Sericin possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and moisturizing properties, and has been shown to promote collagen production. [2, 9] Turmeric and its active component, curcumin, are known for their potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which are mediated in part by the inhibition of inflammatory cytokines like TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-17. [1, 3] In a clinical trial, a cream containing this combination is applied to psoriatic lesions to reduce severity, inflammation, and improve skin barrier function. [3, 9]
