Overview

Serplulimab + fruquintinib is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (nccRCC). Serplulimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, acting as an immune checkpoint inhibitor to restore T-cell mediated anti-tumor responses. Fruquintinib is a highly selective, potent oral small-molecule inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR) 1, 2, and 3, which inhibits tumor-induced angiogenesis. The combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University as an adjuvant therapy for patients with high-risk nccRCC following surgery, aiming to reduce the risk of recurrence by simultaneously enhancing immune activity and cutting off the tumor's blood supply.
