This combination therapy regimen is being investigated by Daping Hospital and the Research Institute of Surgery of the Third Military Medical University as a first-line treatment for extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). The regimen consists of the PD-1 inhibitor serplulimab (Hansizhuang), platinum-based chemotherapy (cisplatin or carboplatin), etoposide, and low-dose aspirin. Serplulimab functions as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by blocking the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway to restore anti-tumor T-cell activity. The chemotherapy components, platinum and etoposide, provide cytotoxic effects by inducing DNA damage and inhibiting topoisomerase II. Aspirin is integrated into the regimen to potentially enhance the anti-tumor efficacy of the immunotherapy by modulating the inflammatory tumor microenvironment through cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibition and reducing treatment-related adverse events such as thrombosis and fever.
