Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Serratula coronata extract + salicylic acid is a topical combination cream formulation investigated for the treatment of psoriasis. The formulation typically utilizes a Lekobaza base and combines the keratolytic properties of salicylic acid with the anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects of a plant extract derived from *Serratula coronata*. The extract is rich in phytoecdysteroids, including 20-hydroxyecdysone, polypodine B, and ajugasterone C, as well as flavonoids such as quercetin, apigenin, and isokaempferide. Clinical pilot studies conducted by Polish researchers have demonstrated that the combination significantly reduces scaling, erythema, and plaque infiltration in psoriatic lesions compared to baseline and control formulations.
