Sevoflurane + dexmedetomidine is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used in anesthesia. Sevoflurane is a volatile inhalational anesthetic that induces and maintains general anesthesia by altering neuronal excitability, primarily through effects on ion channels and gap junctions, leading to muscle relaxation and loss of consciousness. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sedation, anxiolysis, analgesia, and sympatholytic effects without significant respiratory depression. The combination is not marketed under a unique brand name but represents an off-label or protocol-driven use in clinical practice.
