Sakarya University is evaluating this specific combination in observational clinical trials to validate the clinical applicability of the Equivalent Minimum Alveolar Concentration (eMAC) parameter, which aims to provide a unified measure of anesthetic depth for combined techniques. The regimen works synergistically: sevoflurane and propofol primarily act as positive allosteric modulators of GABA-A receptors to induce hypnosis and amnesia, while remifentanil provides rapid-onset, titratable analgesia through mu-opioid receptor agonism.
