Overview

Sevoflurane + sufentanil is a combination anesthetic regimen commonly employed for the induction and maintenance of balanced general anesthesia. Sevoflurane is a volatile, halogenated ether inhalation anesthetic that primarily acts by modulating GABA-A and glycine receptors, leading to unconsciousness, amnesia, and muscle relaxation. Sufentanil is a highly potent synthetic opioid analgesic that acts as a selective agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, providing intense perioperative analgesia and blunting the sympathetic response to surgical stimuli. This combination is frequently used in major surgical procedures, such as oncology surgeries and lymph-node dissections, to provide stable hemodynamic control and facilitate rapid emergence from anesthesia.
