Overview

\"sevoflurane or desflurane\" is not one chemical entity; it is a disjunctive intervention describing use of either **sevoflurane** or **desflurane**, two distinct volatile halogenated inhalational general anesthetics. In NCT02406300, either agent was used for light general anesthesia together with peripheral nerve blocks in surgical treatment of proximal femur fractures. Both agents are vaporized and inhaled to produce reversible central nervous system depression and maintenance of general anesthesia.
