Overview

SGB-3403 + atorvastatin is a combination under investigation for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, particularly in patients with elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). SGB-3403 is developed as a subcutaneously administered agent, most likely an RNAi-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy targeting PCSK9. Atorvastatin is a widely used small molecule statin that inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis. The combination aims to achieve greater reductions in LDL-C by targeting two different mechanisms: siRNA-mediated suppression of PCSK9 (which increases LDL receptor availability) and inhibition of cholesterol synthesis. SGB-3403 is being developed by Sanegene Bio (Suzhou); atorvastatin is manufactured by multiple companies but is a generic drug. This combination is currently in early-phase clinical studies.
