Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Shengyang Yiwei is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation based on the classic "Shengyang Yiwei Tang" (Spleen-invigorating and Stomach-benefiting Decoction) originally described by Li Dongyuan in the *Pi Wei Lun*. It is a multi-herb composition typically containing *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Panax ginseng*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, and other botanicals. While traditionally indicated for gastrointestinal disorders characterized by "Spleen and Stomach deficiency" and "damp-heat," it is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of early-stage Parkinson's disease. The therapy aims to improve both motor and non-motor symptoms, potentially through neuroprotective mechanisms, anti-inflammatory activity, and modulation of the gut-brain axis.
