Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A specific prebiotic combination of short-chain galactooligosaccharides (scGOS) and long-chain fructooligosaccharides (lcFOS), typically in a 9:1 ratio, designed to mimic the functional properties of human milk oligosaccharides. This mixture is used primarily as a supplement in infant formulas to promote gastrointestinal health and modulate immune responses. Clinical studies have shown that supplementation with this combination can improve stool consistency and frequency, support beneficial gut microbiota colonization (notably bifidobacteria), reduce the risk of constipation, and induce a beneficial immunoglobulin profile by reducing total IgE and certain IgG subclasses without affecting vaccine responses. The product is well tolerated in infants and toddlers[1][2][5].
