Overview
Shuang He Tang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula primarily used to treat conditions characterized by the coexistence of blood stasis and phlegm-dampness. It is a combination of two classic formulas: *Tao Hong Si Wu Tang* (Peach Kernel and Safflower Four-Substance Decoction), which promotes blood circulation and resolves stasis, and *Er Chen Tang* (Two-Cured Decoction), which dries dampness and resolves phlegm. In clinical practice, particularly in China, it is investigated for the treatment of shoulder-hand syndrome (SHS) following a stroke. SHS is a common complication of stroke characterized by pain, swelling, and restricted movement in the upper limb. The formula aims to improve microcirculation, reduce inflammatory factors, and alleviate pain by addressing the underlying TCM patterns of stasis and phlegm. It is typically administered as an oral decoction.
