Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silodosin + Ningmitai is a combination therapy consisting of silodosin, a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist, and Ningmitai, an herbal medicine formulation. This combination is being studied for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Silodosin works by selectively blocking alpha-1A adrenergic receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, leading to relaxation of smooth muscle and improved urine flow. Ningmitai capsules are a traditional Chinese medicine used for urological conditions such as prostatitis and urinary tract infections; their mechanism involves anti-inflammatory effects but specific molecular targets are not well defined. The combination aims to provide symptomatic relief in BPH by leveraging both pharmacological smooth muscle relaxation (silodosin) and potential anti-inflammatory or adjunctive effects from the herbal components of Ningmitai[1][4][6].
