Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Silver nitrate + triamcinolone is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used primarily in the management of hypergranulation tissue and other abnormal granulation conditions, particularly in burn wounds. Silver nitrate acts as a chemical cauterizing agent, promoting tissue destruction and hemostasis by releasing silver ions that denature proteins and disrupt cellular processes. Triamcinolone is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory properties; it reduces inflammation, suppresses immune responses, and inhibits angiogenesis. The combination leverages the cauterizing effect of silver nitrate with the anti-inflammatory action of triamcinolone to enhance wound healing while minimizing pain and scarring associated with silver nitrate monotherapy[1][2]. This combination may be prepared extemporaneously for topical application.
