simethicone + normal saline-The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University-colonic spasm refers to a specific aqueous suspension formulation used as a control intervention in clinical trials conducted by The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. This preparation consists of 5 g of simethicone dissolved in 500 ml of normal saline (0.9% sodium chloride) and is administered via endoscopic irrigation during colonoscopy. Simethicone is a non-systemic surfactant that acts as an anti-foaming agent by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to coalesce and be more easily cleared. This improves mucosal visibility by eliminating bubbles and foam. The formulation is being evaluated for its efficacy and safety in relieving colonic spasms and enhancing the adenoma detection rate (ADR) in adult patients undergoing colonoscopy.
