Overview

A combination of simvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor used to treat hyperlipidemia, and cilostazol, a phosphodiesterase III inhibitor used for intermittent claudication and secondary stroke prevention. This combination is not marketed as a single product but represents a drug-drug interaction. Multiple doses of cilostazol increase the systemic exposure of simvastatin and its active metabolite, simvastatin acid, by 1.64-fold and 1.31-fold respectively, and increase their maximum concentrations by 1.8-fold and 1.6-fold.
