Overview

This is a fixed-dose combination of three small molecule drugs: - **Simvastatin** is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis. - **Orlistat** is a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor that reduces dietary fat absorption, used primarily for weight loss and obesity management. - **Trimetazidine** is a metabolic agent classified as a fatty acid oxidation inhibitor, indicated as adjunct therapy in symptomatic treatment of stable angina pectoris. It improves myocardial glucose utilization by inhibiting fatty acid metabolism, thereby protecting against ischemic injury. The rationale for combining these agents would be to address dyslipidemia (simvastatin), obesity (orlistat), and angina/metabolic cardiac dysfunction (trimetazidine) simultaneously. There are no widely marketed or approved products containing all three ingredients together; however, combinations of statins with anti-obesity agents like orlistat have been described in patents and literature for enhanced lipid-lowering and weight reduction effects[4]. Trimetazidine has been combined with statins such as atorvastatin in clinical studies to improve cardiac function[2].
