Overview

Simvastatin + PF-03882845 is a combination of two small molecule drugs. Simvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. PF-03882845 is a highly potent, selective, orally bioavailable nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist developed by Pfizer for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy and other conditions involving mineralocorticoid excess. Unlike steroidal antagonists (e.g., eplerenone), it does not significantly interact with androgen or estrogen receptors and has high selectivity for the mineralocorticoid receptor[1][2][5][6][8].
