Overview
Sintilimab + platinum-based doublet chemotherapy is a combination therapy regimen used as a first-line treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Sintilimab is a recombinant humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that binds to the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, blocking its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2 to restore T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity. The platinum-based doublet chemotherapy component typically involves a platinum agent (cisplatin or carboplatin) combined with a second cytotoxic agent such as pemetrexed (for non-squamous histology) or gemcitabine (for squamous histology). This combination approach aims to provide both direct cytotoxic tumor debulking and enhanced immune-mediated tumor clearance, significantly improving clinical outcomes compared to chemotherapy alone.
