Overview

SiPc + biotin refers to a chemically conjugated compound consisting of **silicon phthalocyanine** (SiPc), a **photosensitizer** molecule, linked to **biotin** for targeted biomedical applications. Silicon phthalocyanine functions as a photosensitizer used in photodynamic therapy, generating reactive oxygen species upon light activation, which can damage or kill targeted cells. Biotin is used in this formulation as a targeting ligand, exploiting its high affinity for biotin receptors (often overexpressed in certain cancer cells), thereby enhancing selective delivery of the photosensitizer to tumor tissues. The conjugation is designed to improve tumor selectivity and photodynamic therapeutic efficacy compared to SiPc alone. This is a research formulation and not an approved pharmaceutical product.
