Overview

Sisunatovir + verapamil is an experimental combination of two small molecules: sisunatovir, a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) fusion inhibitor, and verapamil, a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker most commonly used for hypertension and arrhythmias. Sisunatovir acts by inhibiting the RSV F protein to block viral entry and fusion with host cells, specifically preventing the interaction between the F protein and host cell receptors. Verapamil inhibits L-type calcium channels, leading to decreased myocardial contractility and vascular resistance. The combination would theoretically leverage sisunatovir’s antiviral effect against RSV and verapamil’s cardiovascular activity; however, there is currently no evidence or clinical data indicating this combination has been developed or studied together.
