SLV342 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Abbott Products (following its acquisition of Solvay Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of gastrointestinal motility disorders, specifically chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It functions as a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist. By targeting these serotonin receptors in the enteric nervous system, SLV342 stimulates the release of neurotransmitters that promote gastrointestinal peristalsis and intestinal secretion.
