This therapeutic regimen, developed by Stiefel (a GSK company), consists of a non-medicated soap-free cleanser used in conjunction with a fixed-dose combination topical gel containing clindamycin phosphate (1%) and tretinoin (0.025%), commercially known as Veltin. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby suppressing the growth of *Cutibacterium acnes* and reducing inflammation. Tretinoin is a retinoid that binds to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs) to normalize follicular keratinization and promote comedolysis, preventing the formation of new acne lesions. The inclusion of a soap-free cleanser in the regimen is designed to maintain skin barrier integrity and minimize the localized irritation and dryness frequently associated with topical retinoid and antibiotic therapy. This specific combination was evaluated in Phase 3B clinical trials for the treatment of mild to moderate facial acne vulgaris.
