Overview

sodium (3-oxo-(17R)-17-28-norurs-12(13)-en)-2-oxoethyl-phosphonate is a semisynthetic pentacyclic triterpenoid derivative of ursonic acid (the 3-oxo derivative of ursolic acid). It features a sodium methylphosphonate moiety attached at the C-17 position via an ester linkage. This modification was designed to enhance the pharmacokinetic profile and anticancer potential of natural triterpenoids, which are often limited by poor bioavailability. In preclinical evaluations against the B164A5 murine melanoma cell line, the compound demonstrated dose-dependent antiproliferative and anti-migratory effects. Preliminary safety studies, including LDH and HET-CAM assays, suggest that the compound possesses low cytotoxicity toward non-cancerous tissues and does not cause significant vascular disintegration, supporting its potential as a candidate for further melanoma research.
