Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**TPN Electrolytes** is a prescription multiple-electrolyte additive for total parenteral nutrition. It is a concentrated intravenous product containing sodium acetate anhydrous, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, and magnesium chloride, supplied for dilution and admixture with amino acid/dextrose nutritional solutions. It replenishes sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and acetate ions to support fluid balance, cellular metabolism, neuromuscular function, and acid-base homeostasis in adult patients receiving centrally infused parenteral nutrition. Acetate serves as a bicarbonate precursor after metabolism. The product contains no phosphate and is not intended for direct intravenous administration without dilution.
