Overview

Zeroflux is an oral antacid and anti-reflux combination therapy containing sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate. It is primarily used for the symptomatic relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, acid regurgitation, and indigestion. Upon ingestion, the sodium alginate component reacts with gastric acid to form a viscous alginic acid gel raft that floats on top of the stomach contents, creating a physical barrier that prevents acid reflux into the esophagus. Concurrently, sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate act as antacids, neutralizing excess stomach acid to provide rapid relief from hyperacidity. Developed and marketed by General Pharmaceuticals, Zeroflux is approved for use in adults and children over 12 years of age.
