Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sodium chloride solutions, specifically the 0.9% isotonic formulation marketed as Turkfleks, are intravenous parenteral fluids used to restore fluid and electrolyte balance. Developed by Turk İlaç ve Serum Sanayi A.Ş., this inorganic salt solution provides 154 mEq/L of both sodium and chloride ions, matching the osmolarity of extracellular fluid (308 mOsmol/L). It is primarily indicated for treating isotonic extracellular dehydration and sodium depletion, and it serves as a vehicle or diluent for the administration of other compatible parenteral medications. While approved and marketed in Turkey, it has been utilized in the United States under temporary importation protocols to mitigate shortages of large-volume parenterals.
