Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**TPN Electrolytes** is a sterile, phosphate-free, concentrated intravenous multiple-electrolyte additive containing sodium chloride, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, and sodium acetate anhydrous. It is diluted into concentrated dextrose and amino-acid solutions used for central-venous total parenteral nutrition in adults to maintain electrolyte homeostasis. The product replenishes sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and acetate; acetate is metabolically converted to bicarbonate and can contribute to acid-base balance. It is marketed by Hospira, a Pfizer company, and must not be administered undiluted.
