Overview

Sodium-histidine-acetyl-neurotensin (8-13) is a synthetic peptide analogue derived from the C-terminal hexapeptide fragment of neurotensin, a 13-amino acid neuropeptide. This peptide is designed to target and bind to neurotensin receptors, particularly neurotensin receptor 1 (NTS1R), which are often overexpressed in various malignant tumors, including small-cell lung cancer, pancreatic carcinoma, colon carcinoma, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. The histidine-acetyl modification facilitates its labeling with radionuclides, such as 99mTechnetium (99mTc), to create radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging. Its primary application is in radionuclide imaging to visualize neurotensin receptor-positive tumors, leveraging its specific binding and subsequent internalization by cancer cells. The peptide's stability and high affinity for NTS1R make it a promising candidate for targeted cancer diagnostics.
