Sodium hyaluronate (HAN Biomedical) is a high molecular weight (HMW), natural hyaluronic acid formulated as a vaginal moisturizing gel. Developed by HAN Biomedical Inc., it is primarily indicated for the treatment of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), as well as vaginal dryness resulting from other conditions such as ovarian or breast cancer treatments. As a non-hormonal therapy, it functions by binding to water molecules to provide long-lasting hydration to the vaginal mucosa and forming a protective physical barrier that supports tissue integrity. This mechanism helps alleviate common symptoms of vaginal atrophy, including dryness, itching, and dyspareunia. The product is designed to promote epithelial repair and restore the physiological environment of the vaginal wall through its high water-retention capacity and potential interaction with cellular receptors like CD44.
