Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Sodium hyaluronate + polycarbophil is a non-hormonal vaginal moisturizing gel used to relieve symptoms of vaginal dryness, irritation, and dyspareunia associated with vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA) or genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). Sodium hyaluronate, the salt form of hyaluronic acid, is a highly hydrophilic polymer that binds to water molecules, providing deep hydration and promoting tissue regeneration and re-epithelialization of the vaginal mucosa. Polycarbophil is a bioadhesive polymer that adheres to the vaginal epithelial wall, ensuring prolonged retention of moisture and forming a protective film that reduces friction and discomfort. This combination is particularly useful as a safe, hormone-free alternative for postmenopausal women, including breast cancer survivors who cannot or choose not to use estrogen therapy.
