Overview
This triple-combination ophthalmic lubricant is a non-biological formulation used as an artificial tear substitute for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) and ocular surface irritation. It combines **sodium hyaluronate**, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan with high water-binding capacity, with **polyethylene glycol** and **propylene glycol**, which serve as humectants and lubricating agents. The formulation works synergistically to stabilize the tear film, reduce evaporation, and provide long-lasting moisture retention on the ocular surface. In clinical research, such as studies conducted by Sohag University, this combination has been evaluated as a lubricating adjunct or control treatment in patients with inflammatory punctal stenosis to assess changes in punctal size and tear drainage.
