Sodium lactate + glucose is a sterile intravenous solution containing sodium lactate and glucose as its main active ingredients, often combined with electrolytes such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and calcium chloride. It is primarily used for the replenishment of extracellular fluid volume and electrolytes in cases of hypovolemia (such as blood loss or dehydration), correction of metabolic acidosis, and provision of energy through glucose. Sodium lactate acts as a buffer; it is metabolized in the liver to bicarbonate ions which help correct acid-base imbalances. Glucose provides an immediate source of energy for tissues. This combination is commonly used in clinical settings for fluid resuscitation and management of electrolyte disturbances[2][3][4][5][6].
