Overview

Sodium nucleinate is an immunomodulating agent composed of the sodium salt of nucleic acids, typically extracted from yeast (*Saccharomyces cerevisiae*). It functions primarily as a stimulant of leukopoiesis and an enhancer of both innate and adaptive immune responses. The drug promotes the migration of hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow into the bloodstream, accelerates the maturation and activity of T and B lymphocytes, and increases the phagocytic capacity of macrophages. Additionally, it acts as an inducer of endogenous interferon production. Sodium nucleinate is widely utilized in Eastern European clinical practice for the treatment of leukopenia (often induced by chemotherapy or radiation), as well as an adjuvant therapy for chronic infections such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, and various immunodeficiency states.
