Overview

Sodium stibogluconate + interferon alfa-2b is a combination therapy comprising a small molecule phosphatase inhibitor and a recombinant cytokine. Sodium stibogluconate (SSG) acts as a potent inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatases, specifically SHP-1 and SHP-2, which are known to negatively regulate signaling pathways involved in immune cell activation and cytokine response. By inhibiting these phosphatases, SSG is intended to potentiate the anti-tumor and immunomodulatory effects of interferon alfa-2b. This combination was developed by the Cleveland Clinic and has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
