Overview

A combination of sodium thiosulfate and methylene blue that has been studied as an antidote for cyanide poisoning. Sodium thiosulfate functions as a sulfur donor that converts cyanide to less toxic thiocyanate through the rhodanese enzyme pathway, while methylene blue is a thiazine dye that can form methemoglobin which binds to cyanide. However, this combination is less effective than the standard treatment protocol of sodium nitrite with sodium thiosulfate for cyanide poisoning.
