Sofosbuvir + velpatasvir is an oral, fixed-dose combination antiviral medication used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults and children aged 3 years and older, covering all six major HCV genotypes. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog inhibitor of the HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, acting as a chain terminator to block viral RNA synthesis. Velpatasvir is an inhibitor of the HCV NS5A protein, which is essential for viral replication and assembly. The combination targets two distinct steps in the viral life cycle, resulting in high cure rates (sustained virologic response).
