Overview

Solifenacin + estrogen is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of overactive bladder symptoms in postmenopausal women. Solifenacin is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist that relaxes the detrusor muscle of the bladder, reducing urinary urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence. Estrogen (typically administered as local vaginal estrogen such as promestriene) helps improve urogenital atrophy and may enhance subjective symptom relief and quality of life when combined with solifenacin. The combination has been shown to be effective and safe for overactive bladder treatment in postmenopausal women, with the addition of local estrogen improving subjective feelings and quality-of-life scores[1].
